Section 2.            Membership

1.            Qualifications:  Each voting member of the Coordinating Committee shall be a member of their own state Society for Clinical Laboratory Science.  Attendance at previous Seminars and previous experience on an IMSS standing committee are desirable.  The Exhibitor Liaison member should have a minimum of three (3) years experience with IMSS.

2.            Composition:  The Committee is composed of the (10) voting members, two from each State, one elected and one appointed, five (5) non-voting Exhibitor Liaison members, one appointed by each state, and the Ex-officio Tax Officer.

a)            Elected Member
This member is elected at the annual general business meeting one year after the State has hosted the Seminar.  Nominees must provide a biographical sketch and statement of philosophy to the IMSS secretary and their State President by August 1st for dissemination to all delegates and members prior to the meeting.  The elected member serves a five (5) year term and may be reelected.  In the event a vacancy occurs, the individual state will appoint a person to fill the vacancy until the next general business meeting.  Refer to Article IV, Section 3, for the procedure to be followed to fill the remainder of the term.

b)            Appointed Member
This member is appointed by the state to serve a five (5) year term beginning at the post-Seminar meeting the year the state hosts the seminar.  The appointed member may be re-appointed.  The appointed member shall serve as the general chair of the Seminar the fifth (5th) year.  The appointed member shall also serve as an ex-officio member of the Coordinating Committee during the sixth (6th) year.  In the event of a vacancy, the individual state appoints a person to fill the unexpired term.

c)            Ex-officio Members

1)                                                                   The appointed member serving as an ex-officio member (see item b) above) shall have all the rights and privileges of the Coordinating Committee except voting and holding office.

2)                                                                   The Tax Officer shall be appointed by the Coordinating Committee and shall have all the rights and privileges of the Coordinating Committee except voting, holding office, and remuneration for the September Seminar meetings.  In exchange for the services provided below, the Tax Officer shall be given free registration to IMSS.  The tax officer shall:

(a)            Be responsible for filing IRS Form 990 before May 15th each year.

(b)            Be responsible for all tax records.

(c)            Give a report at the IMSS general business meeting.

d)            Exhibitor Liaison Member
This member is appointed by the state for a term to run concurrently with the appointed voting member of that state.  The exhibitor liaison may be re-appointed.  It is not necessary for this member to reside in the state making the appointment.  It is suggested that the exhibitor liaison be in sales, since a technical representative may not be aware of many of the problems facing sales people.  No two exhibitor liaisons should be from the same company.  The exhibitor liaison shall have all the rights and privileges of the Coordinating Committee except voting, holding office, and remuneration for the September Seminar meetings.

e)            Honorary Member
Honorary members shall be nominated and elected at the general business meeting.  They shall have served honorably on the Coordinating Committee for a number of years.  They shall have all the rights and privileges of the Coordinating Committee except voting, holding office, and remuneration.
